A Weekend in LA

Hi Everyone!

My friends and I wanted to beat the winter blues and get away during April. Yes, Cleveland is still very cold and cloudy in April. Since we work and go to school, we decided a weekend trip just a plane ride away would be best. We were in Florida and Vegas recently so we chose… California!

We got in at LAX around 8:00PM on Friday night. First Stop, B Sweet Dessert Bar.

Its ice cream sandwiched in a fresh donut. YAASSS! I always stop at B Sweet when I’m in LA, it’s heavenly!

We stayed at my favorite hotel in LA,  J.W. Marriott on LA live. Everything is clean,  the food and drinks are good,  and the customer service is top notch. Not to mention, this hotel features a rooftop pool, hot tub, and bar!

We spent Saturday morning lounging around on the LA rooftop.

We had lunch at an authentic japanese ramen place, The Tsujita. This was my first bowl of authentic ramen and it really puts Top Ramen to shame.

Next stop: Santa Monica.

Santa Monica is one of those places everyone should see at least once in their lifetime! And Here’s why:

If this beautiful ocean view with mountains in the background isn’t enough to make you want to go to Santa Monica Pier, then maybe the amusement park, performers, and shops will!

Next stop: dinner at Pho 87

Yum! Pho is easily one of my favorite foods. I can probably live off pho for the rest of my life and be content. Pho 87 is very authentic. I’ve had many bowls of pho and this is easily in my top 3 pho places. The noodles and chicken are cooked to perfection and the broth is rich and full of flavor.

We had brunch at République. The best bakery in LA! I had a Croque Madame.

It was divine and the salad was perfect. I was so full I had to take dessert to go!

A matcha cake topped with rasberries and a crème brûlée filled bombolini (rightfully named!). Honestly, they were the bomb! I wish I lived around the corner from this place, I would try everything there!

We’ve all seen that “how I feel when I try on bathing suits” meme with the orangutan- that’s exactly how I felt after that delicious meal as we were heading to Laguna Beach. The drive from LA to Laguna Beach is so pretty. Oh, what I wouldn’t give to live near Ocean Avenue.

There are so many great little boutiques, art studios, and places to eat on Ocean Avenue in Laguna Beach. Laguna Beach is one of the prettiest beaches I have been to. The pacific ocean is clear blue and refreshingly cold.

Next Stop: Cauldron Ice Cream

Earl grey ice cream drizzled in honey in a puffle cone anyone? The Cauldron’s ice cream is homemade and made in small batches. They have unique flavors and also offer a Hong Kong style egg waffle cone. This place is a must-try!

So that was our trip to LA for a weekend. I look forward to going back soon!

Is LA on your weekend getaway list? Have you tried any of the places I mentioned? Comment and Let me know! I’d love to hear from you!

  1. Wow! It sounds like you had quite a trip! I’m hungry just looking at the food. BSweet is definitely incredible — next time, you should try their bread pudding. It is delicious. If you like pho, I recommend going to Westminster or Van Nuys. It is a bit of a drive from LA but the pho is significantly better. Mama Hong’s is my go to pho place in Los Angeles if you wanted to check out a different place.

If you are ever in the Santa Monica pier, I recommend renting bikes so you can bike along the coast. There are amazing foods in Venice (Salt & Straw Ice Cream) and Santa Monica (True Foods). That way, you can burn calories before you eat more calories 🙂

You should check out my blog if you are looking for more activities in Los Angeles. Definitely come back!
